averages by far.
The University of Cambridge Examinations
In studying for a Cambridge EFL examination, you are developing the
skills you will actually need to make practical use of English, whether
in education, business or social life.
- PET - Preliminary English Test
This test corresponds to the minimum requirements for employment in
an English speaking environment or for immigration to an English speaking
country.
- FCE - First Certificate in English
Previously known as the Lower Certificate in English, it is one of
the oldest international examinations in English (1939) and indicates
that the holder is an independent user of the language. It has recognition
in commerce and industry.
- CAE - Certificate in Advanced English
The CAE is widely recognized as the linguistic level necessary for
undergraduate studies in English speaking institutions around the
globe.
- CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in English
It is the highest level examination of the UCLES EFL main suite and
is the most widely known qualification internationally for entrance
in undergraduate and postgraduate studies. It is also recognized as
an English Language teaching qualification in a number of countries.
- IELTS - International English Language Testing
System
This is a test developed especially for candidates who are interested
in pursuing undergraduate or post graduate studies in English speaking
universities or for immigration purposes.
The Cambridge
EFL examinations are linked to the five-level scale established by the
Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE),
which covers examinations in a wide range of European languages and
helps to ensure that the examinations are recognized by universities
throughout Europe, as well as in Australia and New Zealand, Canada and
increasingly in the United States and in other parts of the world. The
examinations are also recognized by major commercial and other organizations
throughout the world, so that they remain useful throughout the holder's
working life.
- TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
There are two versions of the test - paper
based and computer based.
The test was originally developed in order to assess a candidate's
ability to attend University courses in the United States and in other
English speaking countries. Test results are reported directly to
the University. The test score is valid for 2 years.
In Logos Oxford we offer modular,
specialized, elective courses, dedicated to the CAE, CPE, IELTS and
TOEFL examinations.
